The airport’s location is near open agricultural land, making the acquisition process easier. However, there are some residential areas as well which the government would acquire for the construction of the airport, for which the government is in talks with the residents regarding compensations amongst other things.
The city’s connectivity with the airport is also kept in mind during the introduction; hence, the government has announced the extension of the metro rail to Sriperumbudur. Also, the initiation of some connecting roadways and elevated roads is proposed for better connectivity of the city to Chennai’s new airport.
According to some sources, the real estate and aviation sectors are said to increase in Chennai, given that with Chennai’s new airport, the whole area would be developed, and the prices will soar high for real estate as the connectivity, and all the amenities in the area are going to be of global level.
Chennai’s new airport will be a good bonus for the already existing and busy Chennai International airport. The second airport in Chennai will be capable of holding much bigger aircraft with over 600 seating capacities.
